In 1966, that misused, abused, beat-up piece of metal and wood regularly knocked down the man-sized pop-up silhouette targets at all distances from 50 meters out to 450 meters. (Note: Mk 14 Mod 2 chassis is heavy due to the adjustable PRS buttstock and related parts). Fwiw, a heavy McMillan Fiberglass match M1A stock is in-between, around 4 lbs 4 ozs. I did shoot expert.. but I digress. Was challenging, had to shoot from prone, squatting / seated, kneeling and standing positions. A hit was if the target went down (aka pop-ups). I purchased an M14 BULA at the Camp Perry Nationals a few years back. It’s a copy of the original with the wood hand guard. I trained with an M14 when in the US Army and always liked them.
